About Us

We’re Scot and Mary—partners in life, food, and compassion. After becoming vegan in 2018 out of a deep love for animals, we discovered a shared joy in the kitchen, recreating plant-based versions of the foods we loved before choosing a more compassionate way of eating. What started as a personal journey soon grew into a passion for nourishing others. Inspired by the power of food, Mary returned to school to study nutrition and is currently in graduate school working toward her master’s degree in dietetics, with the goal of becoming a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN).

Vegan for the Animals

Choosing a vegan diet is a powerful act of compassion for animals. For many people, it’s a quiet, everyday form of protest—one that aligns actions with values by refusing to support systems that rely on the exploitation of sentient beings. No matter the labels used, animal agriculture ultimately treats animals as commodities, not individuals, and suffering is built into the process. Eating vegan is a way to opt out, reduce harm, and honor the belief that animals deserve care, respect, and the freedom to live without exploitation.

Vegan for Health

A well-planned vegan diet is widely recognized as a healthy, balanced way to eat. Most major nutrition organizations, including the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, agree that appropriately planned vegan diets are healthful and suitable for all stages of life. Eating a variety of plant foods—like vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and legumes—provides fiber and key nutrients that support overall health, while simple planning helps ensure long-term nourishment.

Vegan for the Planet

Research from trusted institutions shows that predominantly plant-based diets, especially vegan ones that exclude all animal products, consistently have a much lower environmental impact than typical meat-centric diets. An Oxford University study found that the diets of vegans typically generate only about a quarter of the greenhouse gas emissions, land use, water use, and biodiversity loss compared with high meat eaters, even when accounting for how and where food is produced. Systematic reviews have also concluded that vegan eating is the optimal dietary pattern for reducing food’s environmental footprint, leading to significantly lower greenhouse gas emissions and natural resource use than omnivorous diets. These findings support broader climate and planetary health science showing that shifting food systems toward plant-forward eating is a key strategy for protecting the Earth’s climate, water, land, and biodiversity.
